Explore nature, art, and wellness in the Markham Hill Natural Area
As the conservation community on Markham Hill takes shape, Specialized Real Estate Group offers public programs in the natural areas on the hill. Markham Hill homes will be surrounded by the neighborhood’s greatest amenity, a natural area consisting of private preserve and public park. As the neighborhood grows, the neighborhood association will present programs to engage neighbors with the preserve. For now, Specialized Real Estate Group offers a monthly program open to the public.
In the first year of programming, participants in Markham Hill programs —
- helped to remove invasive bush honeysuckle and created wildlife habitat structures under the guidance of a restoration expert.
- gathered under a towering cedar tree to practice yoga on a misty morning.
- followed along with a student researcher tracking Three-Toed Box Turtles using radio telemetry.
- learned painting techniques as they created paintings of the historic Waterman-Archer cottage.
- stalked elusive prairie lizards with a graduate researcher.
